Structure and function of the dynamic adhesion/invasion microcompartment during infection of enterocytes by Salmonella
The project will extend the structural and functional characterization of the adhesion/invasion microcompartment formed during interaction of Salmonella enterica with polarized epithelial cells. The project will focus on the adhesion/invasion microcompartment. This includes (i) the molecular composition of the adhesion/invasion microcompartment using surface-functionalized Salmonella for proximity-based proteomics, (ii) the analysis of ultrastructure of the host-pathogen interaction zone during adhesion and invasion, (iii) dynamics of the alternative stator complex SiiAB, and (iv) analyses of the structure of the SPI4-T1SS complex.
